Tapering for a Gran Fondo

Hi all!!

I have my main event coming up later this year. I’ve read a lot about different taper styles and I’m a little confused on what I should be doing. For a little context, I am 53 years old, been training for a few years now, and average between 6-8 hours per week (obviously a little longer when I do a longer weekend ride).

Should I be resting the week before my event or something else? What do people do the day before as well?

This is a really great question, but it’s not that easy to answer though!

Tapering is highly personal, so what works for someone might not work for you. My suggestion is to use easy weeks to start figure out how to peak your body. Maybe even chat with a coach?
